So these past couple weeks have been great! I'm liking my internship and I'm learning a lot about how my learning is applying to a career which is nice. I absolutely love that I work on the Mall. Everyday I see the capitol and the Washington Monument and I love every minute of it. I'm still getting used to being an intern, it's kind of a wierd status because you're inbetween coworker and employee so it's wierd but I like my supervisors, they're really willing to work with me. During the week when I'm not in my internship I'm mostly doing homework and then there's FHE, institute and random movie nights which make it fun. The weekends I have class on Friday and then it's lots of sightseeing! This weekend included the Air and Space Museum and the Hishorn Museum which has contemporary art. I love going with a group of other students because the guys explained to me all about the planes and then two art history students, Breezy and Jen, explained to me all the contemporary art stuff so it made the museums that much better. Thanks guys! We basically wear ourselves out with all there is to do but it's a good change.
Saturday we got up super early to go to the White house. It was really neat, as one person in our group explained it it's kind of like a big temple open house. There's a lot of people and they just kind of shuffle you through. It's all really cool though and it's wierd to think I was in the house President Obama lives in. It's really neat because there's a lot of references to God all around the city. In the white house, above the fireplace mantel in the state dining room are the words of John Adams. He said "I Pray Heaven to Bestow the Best of Blessings on THIS HOUSE and All that hall hereafter inhabit it. May none but Honest and Wise Men ever rule under this Roof." I love the founding fathers and it's a testimony that this country does have religious roots. So after the white house it was the Library of Congress which is amazing! It's by far my favorite building and everything there has a symbolic meaning for education. It's dedicated to the Goddess Minerva who is over learning. It's so ornate and beautiful. Then we went and got pictures in the behind the capitol and then we went and ate at Ray's Hell Burgers, supposedly rated the best burgers in D.C. (Yeah, we had a lot of fun with that name and hence the name of the post) Those burgers were amazing! I think I gained about 5 pounds but it was worth it. In short, I'm loving it here :)

  1. Hi, Natalie: Hope I can get this message through -- not sure what I'm doing. Had fun touring D.C. with you -- especially enjoyed not having to walk all that distance! Enjoyed your report -- LOVE, GRANDMA
